Martial Arts Cakes..

A new friend of mine ordered a couple of cakes for her son Patrick and husband Sean..  They both just passed their black belt test and had a nice party to celebrate.  I felt very honored to make them their special cakes..  Thank you Yoko!!  Two cakes in the shape of a Ki's with black belts, the one with the white strip is Patrick's since he is under the age of 16.  I had to make the patches to match the one's on their actual Ki's, this was a lot of fun to make, I had to do some of the writing with just a toothpick since the area was so small..  Then I had to write their names in Japanese, Yoko said I did pretty good, but I'm not sure I will be taking up writing in Japanese anytime soon : ) it was fun!!  Thanks for looking...

Christmas Cupcake Cakes...

About 3 years ago I made a snowflake cupcake cake for Gavin's class party..  It was one of my first cupcake cakes I made...  This week for Gavin's class party he asked me to make a snowman cupcake cake..  The nice thing about cupcake cakes is there isn't a big mess, no need to cut a cake, you only need a napkin and pull a cupcake from the shape and eat!!  Thanks for looking...

Christmas Time is here!!

It's sure has been awhile since I posted...  Life gets busy and I never seem to have enough time in the day..  I finally found some time (even though my kids are waiting so nicely for me to make breakfast) to update my blog and post some fun holiday pictures of cakes/cupcakes that I have made.

This passed Saturday I was asked to make some Christmas Cupcakes and some cupcakes for a Bunco Party, also in Christmas colors.  I think these were some of my favorite cupcakes I have ever made.  My friend Lesley passed my information along to her son's teacher and she called me!!  I'm always excited to have new clients and fun cakes/cupcakes to make..  Hope you and pray that everyone has a safe and happy couple of Holidays.  Thank you for looking!!

Grooms Cake

In September I was asked to make a grooms cake for a friend of Molly's..  The girl that ordered the cake said her soon to be husband loves the Sharks Hockey team..  She said that they were going to be serving the grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner and to make it a extremely rich chocolate cake...  The cake itself was suppose to look like a hockey puck with the Sharks logo on it, while sitting on what looks to be ice..

            So, Rich Chocolate Cake......  Yummy!!!!

First the cake,  Dark Chocolate with chunk's of chocolate fudge and chocolate chips mixed into the batter...  Then three layers of cake filled and covered with chocolate butter cream icing...  Then covered with chocolate ganache....  Then covered with black fondant (for the hockey puck look)..  This cake smelled so good that I had to make a second one (smaller version) just so I could have a piece!!

Cupcakes

At the end of September I was asked by a good friend if I could make some cupcakes for her little girls 2nd birthday...  She wanted me to not make actual cupcakes, but muffins instead, banana nut muffins to be exact, then to put little monkey faces on top.  The muffins turned out good, (I guess, I'm allergic to banana's and walnuts, so I couldn't try them : ) I had so much fun making these little monkey faces!  I can't wait till someone else wants some monkey cupcakes or monkey muffins!!

Baby Shower Cake

Last night I was up until after midnight finishing a Baby Shower cake for  today..  It was for a really nice lady, who's daughter is in Gavin's class.  She wanted to surprise the girl (that the shower was for) with a cute cake.  She asked for something very pink and girlie.  I added two little baby girls on the top of the cake to represent twins!! It was a small cake for a small party, but still a lot of fun to make..

It's Twins!!

Topsy Turvy....

Topsy Turvy Cakes have always looked extremely creative and of course challenging to me!  Especially when you are asked to make one for the first time...  I'm thankful it was for some long time friends of mine..  Tonight I'm going to give you the step, by step (in pictures) of the first Topsy Turvy Cake I made.  Thank you to Alisha for making it one of  the most creative cakes I have made to date (per her design)..  It was a wonderful challenge which I was excited to be given the opportunity to do...

Topsy Turvy cakes are all about tricking people : )  it only looks like it's sliding, but really it's just a trick : )...  Hope you enjoy the pictures, I sure enjoyed making this cake, even though I was up till 5am the Saturday morning that it was to be delivered..  Now that's Love People, Love!!

Halloween

Since this is the month of  Pumpkins and Spooky Ghost, I thought I would post some pictures of a Halloween themed baby shower I had at my house 2 years ago..  I hosted a shower for my little sister Claire before she had her second little girl Finley..  Since Claire's Birthday is near the end of the month and her due date was close to the 31st, we thought it only fitting to have a  Halloween theme..  It was one fun shower to plan.  We made up silly games and had Spooky food and a Ghost cake to welcome the little Ghost!

Tiny's Cake

Also this weekend I had the privilege of making a cake for another dear friend that I have know all my life, Becky..  Her family planned a great 80th Birthday Party for her wonderful dad Tiny,(he has always been a special person to me, he is such a neat man, with a big heart)...  It was a fun cake, with many challenges...  We had to transport this cake over an hour to it's location..  The road was not straight or flat!!!  I think I counted 4 train tacks that we had to cross!!  I had to make sure I brought my "Cake Doctor Kit" because that cake sure needed some work when we got to Live Oak..  But believe it or not I didn't cry!!  Scott helped me keep it together.  We were able to fix the problems that the car ride caused and make it look good for a great man..  Thank you to the Family for having me and letting me make this special cake for Tiny!!  It's was fishing themed party and cake.  I really liked making the two men (Tiny and his brother Paul) I molded rice crispy treats and covered them in Fondant as well as the Boat.  Then I make a bunch of ducks out of gum paste and fondant as well at the cattails.  The trees were waffle cones that I cut and covered in buttercream. Hope you Enjoy.

Baby Shower Cakes

This weekend I was able to make a Baby Shower Cake for a dear friend of mine, Heather.  It was a Barnyard themed cake, the little animals were so much fun to make..
